David "Doc" Sands was able to improve on his 14th place finish from last year, but he will surely be disappointed to bust out before the final table. On the final hand, Sands limped in from the small blind, and Sam Soverel checked his option. The dealer fanned out a flop of [8d][5d][2c], and Sands checked to Soverel, who fired out 25,000. Sands check raised to 84,000, and Soverel called to see the [9d] hit the turn.
Sands thought for a bit before firing out 115,000, and Soverel tanked for a minute or so himself before moving all in, having Sands covered. Sands had about 250,000 behind, and after some time in the tank, he made the call.
