"I feel really good because I love this game. I play this game a lot. I won this at the WPT National last year in Vienna. It's a small field but it's ok."
There were eight players who came back for the Day 2 restart in this event, and Tran held a massive lead on the field. He had 161,500 to start the day, with no one else over the 100,000 mark. However, it wasn't smooth sailing for Tran, who saw his stack dip early on.
"At the beginning it was pretty sick a roller coaster. I lost two or three hands one hand I played bad. I was down to just seven big bets. But at the end I got alot back and just went from there."
The native Austrian has a slew of Triple Draw cashes on his tournament resume, and he can add another victory after yesterday's performance. We asked Tran to identify some common mistakes he sees beginners making in 2-7, and he had this to offer up.
"Don't draw too much most of the weak players will try to draw too much to get the wheel sometimes you win with a nine or a ten. Play the opponents not your cards."
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will be seeing much of Tran the rest of the series.
"I'm here only for cash games but I saw this was going so I played it. I won't be playing any other tournaments just cash."
Congratulations again to Hanh Tran on winning the 40 person tournament. If you want to play a draw game, we have a $1,100 No-Limit Single Draw Event starting up tomorrow afternoon at 5 PM!
