"I'm feeling great a little bit tired but I'm excited about it. One of the reasons why I played this tournament is the structure. It's almost too good of a structure for a $350 tournament."
Volen and eventual runner-up Erika Weinstein came into the final table as the two big chip leaders, and the two of them would stay at the top of the counts the entire time. Volen took the lead early on in the final table when he took back-to-back big pots off of Alfred Cho, knocking him out in the second pot. From there, Volen never looked back.
"We (him and Erika) were both big stacks she was kind of controlling the table at first but then I gained some momentum, picked up some chips, and picked up some hands. Some things went my way today."
This is the second Remington Trophy for Volen, who has enjoyed plenty of success here in Los Angeles. Last year, he took down the Escalator tournament, an event with a special structure where the blinds increase by five minutes every level, making for fast play early on, and deep play late in the tournament. When asked what else he plans on playing, defending his title was certainly on his mind.
"I'll play the Million Guaranteed for sure. I'll try to satellite into the Main Event, and I have to defend my title in the Escalator."
