Event #24 Shed Doubles Through Baranovsky
Cody Shed was in the middle of a disastrous level thanks in large part to two hands that saw his stack go from 700,000 at the start of the level to as low as 120,000. However, he was able to creep that back up to over 250,000, and recently scored a big double against Vadim Baranovsky.
Baranovsky raised it up to 35,000 in the small blind, and Shed called from the big. The flop came down [5h][4d][8h], and Baravosky stayed aggressive with a bet of 40,000. Shed tagged along, and the [Js] hit the turn. Baraovsky thought over his options for about 15 seconds before announcing all in, and Shed double checked his hand, then called.
Shed: [Qd][Jd]
Baranovsky: [Qc][2c]
Baranovsky got his hand caught in the cookie jar, as he was drawing dead to Shed's turned pair of jacks. The meaningless river was the [Ac], and Shed scored the double up to 600,000.

Event #24 Vadim Baranovsky Eliminated in 3rd Place ($18,680)
Baranovsky |
Not long after Vadim Baranovsky doubled up Cody Shed, he was eliminated by Thu Nguyen. We didn't catch the exact action as it happened, but we know that all of the money got in on the turn, with the board showing [6d][9c][Jc][8d]. According to the players, Nguyen bet out, Baranovsky moved all in, and Nguyen made the call.
Baranovsky: [Js][9h]
Nguyen: [Jh][7s]
Nguyen was looking for a ten or a five on the river, and the dealer delivered with the [Ts]. Baranovsky shook hands with both remaining players, and took the beat in stride.
With that, we are heads up, with Thu Nguyen holding the chip advantage, 1.7 million to Baranovsky's 750,000.

Event #24 Over! Cody Shed Eliminated in 2nd Place ($29,030) Thu Nguyen Wins!
Shedd |
Cody Shedd raised it up to 35,000 on the button, and Thu Nguyen made the call. The flop came down [9h][5h][9d], and Nguyen checked to Shedd, who fired out 41,000. Nguyen didn't take long to drop in a rather large raise of 300,000, and it was back to Shedd. He checked his hole cards, thought for about 15 seconds, then said "alright I'm all in." Nguyen shrugged, and said "I call let's gamble!"
Nguyen: [6h][3h]
Shedd: [Ac][9c]
Nguyen was looking for a heart, and the dealer wasted no time, putting the [Kh] on the turn. Shed now needed the board to pair or to pick up an ace, but he didn't do it, as the [8s] hit the river.
The two players didn't make any kind of deal, so Shed will have to settle for $29,030. Congratulations to Thu Nguyen, who takes home $41,450, and the Remington trophy!
