Event #24 Breaktime Still Three Handed

$

The blinds are just about to go up to 6,000-12,000 in Event #24, and here is how the final three stacks are looking.

Thu Nguyen- 1.1 million
Cody Shed- 702,000
Vadim Baranovsky- 570,000

Event #24 Shed Doubles Through Baranovsky

Cody Shed was in the middle of a disastrous level thanks in large part to two hands that saw his stack go from 700,000 at the start of the level to as low as 120,000.  However, he was able to creep that back up to over 250,000, and recently scored a big double against Vadim Baranovsky.

Baranovsky raised it up to 35,000 in the small blind, and Shed called from the big. The flop came down [5h][4d][8h], and Baravosky stayed aggressive with a bet of 40,000. Shed tagged along, and the [Js] hit the turn.  Baraovsky thought over his options for about 15 seconds before announcing all in, and Shed double checked his hand, then called.

Shed: [Qd][Jd]
Baranovsky: [Qc][2c]

Baranovsky got his hand caught in the cookie jar, as he was drawing dead to Shed's turned pair of jacks. The meaningless river was the [Ac], and Shed scored the double up to 600,000.

Baranovsky

Not long after Vadim Baranovsky doubled up Cody Shed, he was eliminated by Thu Nguyen.  We didn't catch the exact action as it happened, but we know that all of the money got in on the turn, with the board showing [6d][9c][Jc][8d].  According to the players, Nguyen bet out, Baranovsky moved all in, and Nguyen made the call.

Baranovsky: [Js][9h]
Nguyen: [Jh][7s]

Nguyen was looking for a ten or a five on the river, and the dealer delivered with the [Ts]. Baranovsky shook hands with both remaining players, and took the beat in stride.

With that, we are heads up, with Thu Nguyen holding the chip advantage, 1.7 million to Baranovsky's 750,000.

Shedd
Cody Shedd raised it up to 35,000 on the button, and Thu Nguyen made the call. The flop came down [9h][5h][9d], and Nguyen checked to Shedd, who fired out 41,000.  Nguyen didn't take long to drop in a rather large raise of 300,000, and it was back to Shedd. He checked his hole cards, thought for about 15 seconds, then said "alright I'm all in." Nguyen shrugged, and said "I call let's gamble!"

Nguyen: [6h][3h]
Shedd: [Ac][9c]

Nguyen was looking for a heart, and the dealer wasted no time, putting the [Kh] on the turn. Shed now needed the board to pair or to pick up an ace, but he didn't do it, as the [8s] hit the river.

The two players didn't make any kind of deal, so Shed will have to settle for $29,030.  Congratulations to Thu Nguyen, who takes home $41,450, and the Remington trophy!

Tyler Patterson Eliminated in 14th Place in Event #35 $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

Patterson goes all-in and is quickly called by Nathan Bjerno who has him covered:

Patterson-[Ad][Tc]
Bjerno-[Kd][Ks]

On the flop, it came [3d][2h][Jd].  With the [8h] on the turn, Tyler needed one of the three remaining aces.  It wasn't meant to be as the river was a [3h] and Patterson was eliminated in 14th Place, just shy of the money.

Bjerno: 150,000
Patterson: 0

Richard Castro Eliminated in 12th Place ($1,150) in Event $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

Castro goes all-n with his remaining stack and is called by Neo Hoang who has him covered:

Castro-[Kh][9c]
Hoang-[Ah][8h]

The flop came out [5h][2h][Tc], giving Hoang the lead with Ace-high and the flush draw.  A blank hit the turn with Castro needing a King or a non-heart 9.  The river was [3h] and Hoang makes the nut flush and eliminates Castro in 12th Place for $1,150.

Jarod Einsohn Eliminated in 11th Place ($1,150) in Event #35 $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

$

We get to the action with Einsohn all-in on a flop of [6s][Kd][8d] with Di Nguyen calling:

Einsohn-[Ks][8c]
Nguyen-[Js][Jc]

Jarod was sitting comfortably in the lead with two pairs but disaster strikes as the [Jd] hits the turn, giving Nguyen a set.  Jarod now needed the 2-outer, but it was not meant to be as the [9d] hit the river and is eliminated in 11th place for $1,150.

Andrei Suciu Eliminated in 10th Place ($1,430) in Event #35 $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

After both players folded to Jim Cavanaugh in the small blind, he went all-in which would put the big blind, Suciu at risk.  After squeezing his hand, Andrei calls and proudly tables his hand:

Suciu-[Ah][Ks]
Cavanaugh-[As][7d]

Suciu lead was short-lived as the flop came out [Tc][4h][7c].  The turn was a [Th] and the river was a [9h] and the 3-outed pair of Cavanaugh eliminated Suciu in 10th place for $1,430.

Michael Katz Eliminated in 9th Place ($1,430) in Event #35 $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

$

After being crippled a hand earlier with pocket nines vs. Neo Hoang's pocket jacks, Michael Katz went all-in with his short stack and was called by David Cabrera:

Katz-[Js][7d]
Cabrera-[Qd][Ts]

Cabrera takes a huge lead when the flop comes out [Qh][8h][8d].  The [9c] on the turn gives Katz a straight-draw.  The river [7s] ends the story for Michael Katz who finishes in 9th place for $1,430.

Jim Coffey Eliminated in 8th Place ($2,020) in Event #35 $570 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

$

When we arrive at the table, Jim Coffey has shoved the remaining 37k of his stack with a board of [Ad][Ks][6d][7c][Td].  Cavanaugh tanks for over a minute before making the call:

Coffey-[Kh][Qd]
Cavanaugh-[Ah][Qh]

Cavanaugh makes the correct call as his pair of aces is better than Coffey's kings and Jim Coffey is eliminated in 8th place for $2,020.

Christopher DeMaci Eliminated in 7th Place ($2,020) in Event #35 No Limit Hold'em Mix Handed

$

0
Karlo Gharabegian limps in the small blind with [Ad][As] and DeMaci raises out of the big to 18k.  Karlo shoves for 78k more and DeMaci tank calls with [Ac][7c].  The board flops [Ts][9c][8h], giving DeMaci a straight draw.  After the turn [9h] and river [Qs], DeMaci was crippled.

Shortly thereafter, DeMaci shoves from the button and Gharabegian calls:

DeMaci-[Ks][Qd]
Gharabegian-[Ah][9c]

An ace flops and DeMaci does not improve and Christopher DeMaci is eliminated in 7th place for $2,020.
