Event #51 $2,140 Pot Limit Omaha Tournament Update: Salim Namat Crippled, Eliminated in 6th Place ($8,160)

Salim Namat

Salim Namat just showed why Pot Limit Omaha can be such a swingy game. In two hands, Namat went from third in chips to out, as Ronit Chamani took most the chips, and Len Ashby finished him off.

We caught up with the action in the first hand on the turn, with the board showing [9c][7s][3d][10s]. Chamani checked to Namat, who fired out 50,000. Chamani spent over a minute in the tank before check raising all in for 139,000 total, and now it was Namat's turn in the tank. He thought for at least 2-3 minutes before making the call for most his chips.

Namat: [As][5s][Ah][Jh]
Chamani: [7c][3h][Ks][4s]

Both players had flush draws, but at the moments, Chamani's two pair was slightly ahead. Namat had a world of outs, but the [2c] on the river was a giant blank. Chamani scored the big double up to 230,000, while Namat was crippled to 30,000.

Those chups went in on the next hand, with Namat holding [Qh][Ad][10d][7d].  Ashby held [Jc][Kh][Qd][9s], and that hand made the nuts on the turn of a board that read [Ac][10c][3d][Kd][4s].

Event #50 $350 No Limit Hold'em Final Table Update: Julie Le finishes in 4th ($8,400)

Julie Le

After a raise and call in front of her, Julie Le, in the small blind, decided to make her stand with her remaining stack.  Unfortunately for her, Craig Chait, in the big blind, woke up with a monster and re-shoved.  The rest of the field folded.

Chait: [Ks][Kd]
Le: [Ah][Jh]

Le had chipped down after reaching the final table and hadn't gotten anything going.  Speaking with her briefly after her finish, her move with a reasonable suited Ace as the short stack was considered "standard." Fortunately for the rest of the field, Miss Le didn't improve on any streets and had to take consolation as being the last woman standing, taking home $8,400 for her efforts!

Event #51 $2,140 Pot Limit Omaha Tournament Update: Len Ashby Takes Massive Lead Five Handed

Len Ashy
We caught up with the action on the turn in this giant pot between Len Ashby and now former chip leader Mark Lewin that saw Ashby take a pot that gives him more than half the chips in play. The board read [3h][Qh][6d][9d] on the turn, where Lewin bet out 40,000. Ashby called, and the river was the [6c].

Lewin fired out 60,000, and Ashby mulled his options over for a bit before grabbing two stacks of orange 5,000 chips. He put them in the middle, a massive raise to 200,000, and Lewin was in the tank now. He cut the chips out for the call, and slid them across his stack from hand to hand. The bet was for about 1/3 of his chips, and eventually, he slid it in for the call.

Ashby tabled [9h][9c][7s][5h] for a turn set and rivered full house, and Lewin released his cards. After winning that hand, here's how the remaining five players are looking.

1. Len Ashby- 760,000
Mark Lewin- 240,000
Ronit Chamani- 200,000
Joe Hachem- 65,000
Vincent Lam- 60,000

Event #51 $2,140 Pot Limit Omaha Tournament Update: Vincent Lam Eliminated in 5th Place ($10,200)

Vincent Lam

Vincent Lam, Ronit Chamani, and Mark Lewin went three ways to a flop of [10h][8d][6c]. It was checked around, and the [As] came on the turn. Chamani checked to Lam, who bet out 40,000. Lewin got out of the way, but Chamani wasn't going anywhere. It only took her a few seconds to move all in, easily having Lam covered, and Lam quickly called.

Lam: [Ah][Jc][9c][7h]
Chamani: [Ad][10c][7c][9d]

Both players had flopped the nuts, and both players had redraws to improve. Chamani needed the case ace, or one of the two tens left in the deck to win the hand, and she caught the [Ac] on the river to give her a full boat and knock Lam out in unlikely fashion in 5th place, upping her stack to 310,000 in the process.

Event #51 $2,140 Pot Limit Omaha Tournament Update: Joseph Hachem Finishes in 4th Place ($13,600)

Joseph Hachem

Joe Hachem had been card dead most of the day, hanging on to a rather short stack the entire way. He was down all the way to 25,000 when he got the rest of it in against Ronit Chamani and Mark Lewin.  Chamani and Lewin checked down the board, which read [7c][5h][3h][Qs][10c].

Chamani announced two pair, and showed [Qd][7d][Jc][5c]. It was good enough to beat the [Kd][Kh][As][5s] of Hachem, as well as Lewin. The former Main Event champion will have to settle for 4th place, and just like that, we are three-handed!

#LAPC-50 $350 NLH: Craig Chait eliminated in 3rd ($11,340)

Craig Chait (3rd: $11,340)

It was a serious see-saw battle three-handed as the chip leader had shifted to each remaining player.  As the shortest stack Craig Chait moved all-in pre-flop with his remaining stack.  He was called in the small blind by William Leffingwell, who had Craig well covered.

Chait: [3d][3s]
Leffingwell: [Ad][Kc]

This intense three-handed final table was the most dramatic because of all the lead changes, but was the end of the road for Craig when a King hit the flop and Chait was drawing to the remaining two threes.  He blanked out and proudly finished in 3rd for $11,340 during a roll-coaster final table and an overall well played tournament!

Mark Lewin

Mark Lewin held the chip lead for the first half of this final table, but once we got short handed, everything went the opposite way. Lewin was all the way down to 60,000 when he got most of it in preflop against Ronit Chamani. The flop came down [Jd][10s][7c], and the rest of the money got in.

Lewin: [Qc][Jh][5s][8h]
Chamani: [Jc][Js][Ks][3c]

Lewin was drawing thin against the flopped set of Chamani, and he couldn't catch his miracle inside straight, as the board completed [5d] and [4d].

Lewin will have to settle for third, while Chamani and Len Ashby are left to battle heads up. Here's how those two stack up right now.

Len Ashby- 878,000
Ronit Chamani- 482,000

Event #50 $350 NLH: William Leffingwell wins ($21,420*) Event #50, Mike Jung eliminated in 2nd ($21,420*)

William Leffingwell (1st Place Winner: $21,420*)
Jung (2nd: $21,420*)
A deal was made head's up as they were nearly even in chips to divide the remaining prize-pool ($42,840) in half between the two players ($21,420*).

After a long 3-handed session, head's up went on for just as long, with the chip lead exchanging hands numerous times.  On the final hand, Mike Jung moved all-in from the button and was called by William Leffingwell, who had him out-chipped.

Leffingwell: [9s][9c]
Jung: [Kc][3c]

The flop was blanks all around, and so after a marathon final table, 3-handed and head's up, the dust settled and William Leffingwell's pocket Nines were the difference maker!  As a result, the runner up and champion both took home the same cash prize, but the title and Remington Trophy went to the champion of Event #50, William Leffingwell!

Event #51 $2,140 Pot Limit Omaha Update: Ronit Chamani Doubles Up!

Ronit Chamani

Ronit Chamani had been whittled down to 170,000, and she got the rest of that in preflop after a series of raises.

Chamani: [Ac][As][Ad][7d]
Ashby: [Qc][Qs][10c][3s]

Ashby was hoping to see plenty of black cards come out, but he completely missed the flop of [4h][Kd][8h]. Ashby could only catch runners for a straight or a queen, but he couldn't do it, as the board completed [4c] and [7s].

Chamani got the double up to 360,000, but she is still well behind the million chips of Ashby.

Len Ashby (1st place Winner: $40,800)
Ronit Chamani (2nd: $28,560)
Ronit Chamani's stack had gone up and down like a yo-yo throughout the heads up play, and she wasn't able to secure a third double up, falling to the winner Len Ashby.

Action started with Ashby limping in. Chamani potted it to 60,000, and Ashby called. The flop came down [7h][9d][Js], and the two got in a raising war that saw the remainder of Chamani's stack go in.

Chamani: [Ks][Qd][9s][3d]
Ashby: [10h][9h][8s][2d]

Ashby had flopped the nut straight, and Chamani was looking for a ten or running cards to win the hand. She wasn't able to do so, as the board completed [2h] and [2s], improving Ashby to an unnecessary full house.

Chamani will have to settle for runner up, while Len Ashby takes home $40,800, and the beautiful Remington trophy!
